A Ukrainian delegation headed by board chairperson of Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolyev took part in a meeting today of the EU gas coordination group in Brussels (Belgium).

In the course of the meeting, Ukraine informed representatives of the European Commission and leading EU energy companies about the state of affairs in gas relations with the Russian Federation.

Ukraine once again confirmed its readiness to remain a reliable gas transit country as is shown by the absence of any disruptions in gas supplies through the territory of Ukraine to the EU. Naftogaz of Ukraine continues observing its contract obligations despite the decision of Russia's gas monopoly, Gazprom, on June 16th to shift Ukraine to an upfront gas payment scheme as well as to suspend gas supplies to Ukrainian consumers.

The Ukrainian delegation presented results of an expert examination of the state of the Ukrainian gas transport system and its readiness for further continuous and stable transit of Russian fuel to European consumers.

Representatives of the coordination group expressed understanding of Ukraine’s steps in negotiations with Gazprom and supported measures taken by Ukraine in order to ensure Europe’s energy security.

Naftogaz of Ukraine confirmed its readiness to continue trilateral — Ukraine-EU-Russia negotiations.
